Non Smoking

The Iowa Smokefree Air Act prohibits smoking in almost all public places and enclosed areas within places of employment, as well as some outdoor areas. Under the Smokefree Air Act, it is prohibited to smoke in or on the property of a Child Development Homes. For more information go to www.IowaSmokefreeAir.gov

Back up Care

Due to clever connections being a co-provider operation we generally are always open. However in the event that we are unable to be open to provide adequate care, we do not provide a back-up provider for children. It is your responsibility to secure a provider for back-up care in the event of sick days or in the event of emergency.

Medications

If your child needs prescription medicine for a health condition or illness, we prefer the dosage to be administered outside of child care hours.  If medication must be administered during child care hours, ask the physician or pharmacist to provide a separate labeled bottle to be kept at day care for the dose needed during our day. Medications MUST be in their original bottle, with child’s name, written instructions indicating the last dosage given, the amount to be given, and the time to be administered.  Refrigerated medications will be stored in the refrigerator in a sealed container.  Non-refrigerated medications will be stored on a high shelf in the kitchen in a sealed container.

Notifications to the Health Department

Should a child be diagnosed with a communicable disease such as Measles, Mumps, RSV, Chicken Pox, Hepatitis, Meningitis, Rubella, Salmonella, TB, we will notify the local health department as well as all parents and guardians in my care.  Children’s confidentiality will always be maintained.

Mandatory Reporting

As apart of my registration, we are trained to see signs of abuse or neglect. As caregivers and providers, we must by law report any suspected abuse to a child or children that come into my daycare whether it be as a full time client, potential client, neighborhood children who play with out children after hours and such. It is my duty to see to it that children are safe and happy in order to develop into well balanced individuals. We have only their best interests at heart.
