Thank you for your interest in Ms. Meg's Munchkins’ family childcare! Let me tell you a little about myself and why I love my job.

My history and experience with children starts very young as my mother also chose to open her own daycare while staying home with me. I was born three months premature and my parents made the decision for my mother to stay home due to my needs. As far back as I can remember we had small children in our household during the day. I remember helping out at a young age.

After high school, I worked full time as a lead toddler teacher in a childcare center called Koalaty Time. I supervised and taught children ages 18-24 months all the basics. We had circle time which consisted of language, vocabulary, free play, arts/crafts, music, story time, a variety of sensory activities, and dramatic play. I was fortunate enough to create my own lesson plans that followed a structured curriculum.

I have an associate's degree in Medical Office Management and I hold my bachelor's in Early Childhood Education both from Kaplan University.

I am a married mother of three amazing children, two boys and a girl! I met my husband while in high school and we will soon be celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary. When we met and started dating in high school, my mother was still providing in-home care for families. Thus when we married at 19 and 20, we knew we didn't want to wait to have children ourselves so that they could be cared for in an in-home environment.

It wasn't until my middle child was about six months old that I decided I needed to be at home with him and checked into doing in-home family care. With my experience in the childcare center and watching my mother run her own daycare, I started to plan out my business. After doing some research and taking required trainings, I acquired a Category A Registration with the state of Iowa, and sprang into action! Ms. Meg's Munchkin's In Home Family Childcare was established in November of 2012, and the rest is history. Upon expanding the childcare, I changed the name out of respect to acknowledge it was no longer a one woman operation. Ms. Meg's munchkins now offers the same great care and fun under the name of Clever Connections Childcare!

Our family is rounded out with a few very loving, gentle pets. Some of which will be accessible to the children of Clever Connections. We have three dogs, two Great Danes, named “Chase” and “Ghost,” and one American Staffordshire Terrier mix rescue named “Kato”. We also have an orange tabby cat named “Ronin,” he is just over two years old. He has an awesome personality and if he's not interested, he will get up and walk away not matter what the terms. During the warmer months of the year, Ronin is an indoor/outdoor cat who will spend a majority of the time outside and on his own. We see him more in the cooler months when he decides that the snow is just too cold for his little feet. Last but not least, we have a miniature lop ear rabbit named, “Sophie.” She will be the most accessible to the daycare children as her enclosure is located in our daycare space. Our pet family has grown up with the kids and daycare so they are very tolerant. Although not all of our animals will be with the children every minute of the day, they will have encounters with them in passing or while on the playground. As the dog run is located adjacent to the playground area. I truly believe that children can learn many things from animals if they are given the chance.

I love children and I love teaching, thus my interest in my bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education and choosing to be a daycare provider! I wouldn't have it any other way. I get to enrich the lives of children while staying at home with my own. What could be any better than that?

Daycare field trip to Howell's Pumpkin Patch.  Mid October, stay tuned for details.
